Qualities of A Good Marketer

How a good marketer can be defined? According to marketing, Market is a set of actual and potential buyers of a product. There are some persons at that product’s organization related with marketing activities, called marketer. About marketing, it is already posted in the article ‘Marketing: An Art of Relation or Deception’. In Bangladesh, people take these persons as salesmen. In that case, anyone can be marketer. A person attracts some potential or actual buyers with his/her words and sell the product. It cannot be a marketing process; simply salesmanship. There is no relationship with consumers. If salesman is a marketer, every hawker is marketer in this way though it is not. These kinds of marketers are really stable? Are they really good for organizations? Marketers are taken for enhancing, expanding the organizations’ business. What qualities should be in a good marketer?

 

First, should be Adventurous. It does not mean that you have to hunt treasure or discover ancient ruins. It means you have the mentality to go a new place, meet with new people, discovering their inner words and hunt out the potential consumers. Experiencing new place, new people, new mind; obviously an adventure.

Second, should be Meticulous. Wherever you go for marketing, you have to observe the place keen. Who says who, What is said, What the person is doing, What the want, What their expectations etc. Every relevant or irrelevant moments should be observed and analyzed.

Third, be Patient. Wait until you are called or any massage provided by the client. The person has the work or not, wants to meet or not, you have to wait, even hours.

Fourth, be Tolerant. Your potential or actual client may reprove, scold, chide or misbehave; just tolerate the situation. You should behave with them with a happy smile without showing anger or bad temper or annoyance.

 

Fifth, be Punctual. If you are punctual, reach the place on time or in time, people will like you, rely on you, trust you.

Sixth, be Matey. You have the ability to become mate of any person at any situation. It will help you to understand the market and achieve your target.

Seventh, be A Good Listener. Marketers’ important task is to listen carefully what the market says or what they want to say. It may be appreciation or grievance. If you are not a good listener, you will not learn the need, want and demand of your market. Then, it is impossible for you to serve your market well.

Eighth, be A Quick Learner. You should have the ability to learn quick. Inside or outside of the organization, people of different places have different manners. If you cannot learn quick, you will face the problem definitely.

 

Ninth, Smile with Confidence. Whatever happens in your personal or professional life; facing problems or struck by thunder, you have to keep a beautiful smile on your face with confidence. People like confident persons. A confident representative means a well established confident organization.

Tenth, Limit Chatter. Every client has a difference. Few talk too much, few are less and few are least. You have to behave as your client. Some marketers think, if they show their huge knowledge to clients, they will be happy, rely, amazed. They become chatterbox. Don’t do that. Clients may be disappointed.

 

Eleventh, be A Challenger. The job of marketer is full of challenge. You should have the courage or ability to face the challenge or keep up with the challenge. Otherwise, you cannot meet or exceed your target.

 

Twelfth, be Organized. You have to organize yourself. It means your essential working props should be organized. Also, you have the ability to work in a team or group in a organized manner.

 

Thirteenth, be A Man of Ethics. If you follow ethics, you may face trouble at very first but, you will pave your position at market strong. Suppose, to fulfill your monthly target, you cheat a consumer. You may profitable for that month. The consumer lose his/her trust on you. You have lost a person of words of mouth, a well wisher and a consumer. It will lessen your market area.

 

Befit in such a competitive market, a marketer should do his/her duty honestly in a responsible manner for his/her own and organization’s development. Organization should recruit marketers who have these quality or have potentiality. Again, marketers should analyze that the organization is on this track or not. For organization’s and marketers’ betterment both should be observed and analyzed each other and should not be compromised.
